John’s Story

John was born into a large family in a time where kids entertained themselves and each other with their imaginations. As he grew older, it was a time when young people gravitated toward being hip, or cool. Eventually he was drawn into the drug & hippie culture.
After years of doing drugs he was becoming disillusioned and felt there was more to life than what he was experiencing. He met up with an old friend who wasn’t doing drugs, but playing and writing music. Music then became the crutch needed to help him move away from the drug scene.
After finding a sense of fulfillment in playing and writing music John felt there was still something missing in his life. Not knowing, at the time, he was being drawn into a life changing relationship with the Lord.
One day he was passing a table with books on clearance and he noticed a bible and thought, ” I don’t even know what the good book says” so he bought it and took it home and put it on his nightstand.
During a very depressing time in his life he looked at the bible and knew he needed to read it in hopes of finding the truth. This is when things really began to change. The Lord began to open his eyes to who Jesus was and what He did for him. Never being a churched person it was like being the only person who knew who Jesus really was, and was the beginning of the being born-again experience.
This was during the Jesus Revolution that was sweeping over the land and eventually he met others who shared in the born again experience. He began writing songs that reflected his new found personal relation with the Lord.
John has served as a worship leader in several churches, and has written dozens of songs. His heart has always been to first please the lord with his musical gift that he has been given. As he has been freely given, his heart is to give back freely. He understands that to whom much is given, much is required. (Luke 12:48)
Along his journey, he met and married Donna, in 1977. They are soulmates and have been together nearly 50 years. They have two amazing daughters, Hannah and Rachel, and one incredible grandson, Escher. John and Donna both marvel at the blessings that God has allowed them to share in.
Now begins the chapter in sharing the songs God has given to promote the Kingdom of Heaven. May all who hear them be ministered to by the Spirit of the Lord.
